On April 30, 2010, Dayton Dutch Lions FC played the first ever Dutch Lions FC game vs Global United, a team that consisted of players from all over the world that had participated in the World Cup. Global United was a unique project at the time with former players playing exhibition games all over the world to raises awareness for climate change.  The players were three days in town and besides the game, they also had several activities in the community, from planting trees to a meet and greet event in partnership with Heineken and Mynt Martini, a night club in Cincinnati at the time. There was also a press conference at the Greene.


The team of Global United had the following payers: Fernando Couto, Zinho, Paulo Rink, Paul Bosvelt, Winston Rufer, Marco Etcheverry, Sunday Oliseh, Lutz Pfannenstiel, Richard Gough, Fredi Bobic, Marcelo Balbao, Thomas Dooley, Tony Sanneh, Fernando Clavijo, Mario Kempes and Geert Brusselers. Dutch forward Geert den Ouden scored two goals in the 4-2 win. There were 3.200 fans in attendance.
